A "Griswold Dad" is someone trying to be the best dad they possibly can be. I've named this mantle after Chevy Chase's character from the National Lampoon's Vacation movies.

Good ol' Clark Griswold tried his best. Was he perfect? No. Did family

craziness get to him occasionally and cause some rather interesting rants?

Sure! He always tried his best, though. I think that's what counts. As his

wife told him, he "sets standards that no family can live up to." Why not?

You set them high, they may not reach the expected level, but it'll be

better than the same ol' same ol', doldrum, boring nights you'll end up

with if you don't try!

Kids see that effort and appreciate it, you don't have to be perfect.

This site's goal is to provide tips and tricks to make that effort

easier.
