WWE Wrestling Games: A Game Review

WWE Video Game cover

There have been many WWE wrestling games over the years. WWE 2K13, 2K15, 2K18, I could go on and on. All these games are mostly similar, though. They're wrestling games with the stars of wrestling we all know and love being pitted against one another in the ring.

WWE games are not just normal wrestling, though. You can hit each other with chairs, tables, mallets, ladders, even baseball bats. Things like this list are available in a mode called "Extreme Rules". There are other fun modes too, like "TLC" (otherwise known as Tables. Ladders. and Chairs) and "Money in the Box". In TLC, you use tables, ladders, and chairs against your opponents of course. In Money in the box, you fight for a suitcase full of money suspended from the ceiling on a rope. You wrestle the other fighters while all of you try to climb a ladder and retrieve the suitcase. There are still other modes, and of course there are classic battle options like one-on-one or tag team matches.

Then, one of the best things about the game is Character Creator. With this option, you can create your own wrestler characters. You're able to add tattoos, logos, suits, helmets, and more. You can even pull in characters that other game players have created. We've gotten characters like Green Lantern, Captain America, Batman, and Donkey Kong!

Editing Superstars

For each character you create, you can create entrances for them as well. On WWE on TV, when a wrestler comes in for a match, he or she makes a big entrance. They dance, the flip, they intimidate, all to an awesome soundtrack. Naturally, if you're making a character, you get to design all aspects involved with them. You can add music, flames, and more. Character Creator is my personal favorite aspect of the WWE games.

If you like wrestlers from the 80s, 90s, or 2000s, different WWE games have different wrestlers. Newer versions of the games, of course, have the newer characters. However, a cool thing about WWE games is that they typically include legacy wrestlers from across the decades. So, you want Seth Rollins? Get a newer version. But, in that version, you can pit him against The Rock, Hulk Hogan, or nearly any other famous wrestler you can think of.

Also, unlike characters like Mario or Sonic, WWE wrestlers aren't stuck on just one game system. So, it doesn't matter if you have Xbox, Playstation, or Nintendo, you can enjoy some awesome WWE wrestling.

People may disagree on exactly how real professional wrestling is. However, in a video game where you're playing as your favorite characters, it can be as real as your imagination wants it to be. Real and fun!
