Roger Day Live

Roger Day and the twins

Roger Day in concert, live! What a wonderful show this guy puts on. Interactive. Fun. Creative. He even throws educational tidbits into the mix, including information about animals and conservation. The kids don't know they're learning, they're just having fun! His songs aren't just humorous though, he has songs that are inspirational and moving. He encourages kids to dream big and try hard to become the things they want to be in life. There's a song about kids being superheroes...that, since I have kids who pretend to be superheros all the time, makes me tear up a little. Luckily, the inspirational and tear-inducing songs are interspersed with songs like "Mosquito Burrito" and "It's a No No to Kiss a Rhino". Keeps you laughing...and helps you keep your composure between the more touching songs.

This is the 4th time my boys have seen Roger Day. My boys wore their shirts from last year's show to the concert. Per the classic movie "PCU", they were "that guy". Roger's autographs on the shirts had faded from the previous year, and he was nice enough to resign them exactly over top of his previous year's autograph!

As I'm watching the show, though, I'm thinking "this may be the last year they want to see Roger" which made me a little sad. I hope this is not our last Roger Day concert. His songs are definitely enjoyable for all ages, and there are SOME older kids there. But not a whole lot. Most of the audience is between 3 - 10 years old. My boys will be 9 on their birthday. Roger doesn't come every year...so by the time he comes back...

My boys have already outgrown the kids stage shows. A couple of years ago, we took them to see The Wild Kratts Live on stage. We'd seen Sesame Street and Fresh Beat Band, and they had loved those. But, at Wild Kratts, something happened. The boys enjoyed it. Yet, they weren't out of their seats losing their minds like other kids were. Like they'd been at previous shows. They'd outgrown the show. So, we stepped it up and went to Marvel Universe Live and WWE and Monster Trucks. The excitement is back, but it's different, not as innocent and sweet. So, are my kid singers like Roger Day and Justin Roberts next? Do we have to trade them in for 21 Pilots?

Sooner or later, I guess so.

But, if you can...if he's in your area...and your kids are in that prime age range...see Roger Day while you can. You won't be sorry!
