World Culture Tour: Scotland part 2 - Tartan Painting

tartan craft

Our craft for the Scotland portion of our World Culture Tour was to learn about and paint our own tartans!

Tartans are plaid patterns made into woolen clothing like kilts, scarves, and hats. The patterns were distinctive for different regions of Scotland, and eventually different clans themselves. So, your tartan was like your family crest.

The boys each made their own patterns to create their own Scottish clan.

But, of course, after watching Highlander, they know "there can be only one Highlander!"
