World Culture Tour: Italy part 4 - The Leaning Tower of Pisa

My boys admitted they'd have been a bit more excited about this craft if it had been pizza instead of Pisa, but they ended up having fun making it anyway.

To make the Leaning Tower of Pisa craft, start with a paper towel roll. The full roll seemed a bit long, but a toilet paper roll was slightly too short. So, we trimmed a paper towel roll down to a height we liked. Then, we trimmed the bottom at an angle to get a good lean.  This is tricky because you still want it to stand up. Ours struggled to stand, so we added some weight to one side to keep it standing.  Once you get the dang thing to stand, use pipe cleaners to form the ring layers of the tower. Finally, cut pipe cleaners to form arches to glue in between your ring layers.
