There has been plenty of great food so far in our "trip" around the world, but I'd be lying if I said I haven't been looking forward to Italy for the food. Yes, of course, this is food that everyone is familiar with, so we're not stepping into unfamiliar territory as we did with our jollof rice from Africa. However, maybe Italian food is familiar to everyone because of how great it is!
Spaghetti, pizza, lasagna!
These are staples almost everywhere you go. For our first step into Italy, we ventured out to a local Italian restaurant owned and operated by true Italians (Almalfi's for anyone close to the Charlotte area). We love the place and any excuse is a good excuse to go! We ordered chicken fettuccine Alfredo, lasagna, and baked ziti.
Later, when we got home and the meal wore off a bit, we finally felt ready for dessert and jumped on some Breyer's Gelato!
