For each stop along our World Culture tour, we include movies from, or about, that country as part of learning and seeing that area's culture. That has worked great...thus far. Unfortunately, in France, I made a mistake. Apparently, I have always confused "Madeline" with "Amelie". While Amelie started hilariously, and my boys were cracking up with laughter, Amelie is NO family movie.
Not one bit.
It is actually rated R! Now, of course, since I was confusing it with Madeline in my head, which is a family movie, I didn't even check the rating.
Oops.
So, there are some quick cut scenes fairly early in Amelie that show...well, everything, quickly letting you know this movie is not for kids! As my wife and I jumped for the remote to stop the movie, yelling "close your eyes, close your eyes", my boys squealed and threw blankets over their faces.
So, if anyone reads this and follows these "World Culture Tour" posts, please note - That list of French items we were going to include for the France part of our tour that I posted in the "part 1" post of France? Remove Amelie, and replace it with Madeline.

Merveilleux! We're now back on track and can continue our regularly scheduled programming.
See you soon, as we attempt to build the Eiffel Tower with Popsicle sticks.
