World Culture Tour: Eastern Europe part 6 - Fortune Telling

Updated: Aug 7, 2019

For our final stop in Eastern Europe for our World Culture tour, we decided to partake in the time-honored cultural tradition of the Gypsy people of Eastern Europe: Fortune Telling.

I bought Tarot cards at Books-a-Million that came with instructions, thank goodness. Combine this new “skill” with a craftily wound towel as a turban, and I may as well have hung the eyeball-palm sign in my window.

I was ready.

Now, in the video I combine both my twins’ reading into one, which I’m pretty sure makes the whole “reading” null and void and incorrect. Regardless of how “real” people think it is anyway.

Fortune telling has been associated with Gypsies, or the Romani people, for hundreds of years. So, it made sense to us to include this as the culture element of the area. It has the perfect level of mystique to really get kids interested!
