People want to feel included. They want to feel they relate to others. They want to see stories, shows, and real people with which they can identify. Twins are no different!
So, we’ve gathered a list of real life famous twins, that are known for a variety of reasons, to show twins of the world that there are plenty of people out there like them.
10. The Proclaimers
The singers of The Proclaimers, famous for the song “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)”, are twins. The Scottish duo started as far back as 1983 and still tour the world today.
9. Mowry Twins
Tia and Tamera Mowry are twin sisters who hit it big with their sitcom Sister, Sister. In the show, they played, you guessed it, twin sisters! The show’s premise was that the two were separated at birth and adopted by two different people. However, since they were identical, a chance encounter allowed them to spot each other and develop a new, combined family. The Mowry sisters still act today.
8. Jenna and Barbara Bush
Twins daughters of President George W. Bush, these two became famous at an early age because of his success. However, they have proven they deserve the attention by succeeding in their own careers. Jenna is a journalist and cohost of Today with Hoda and Jenna, while Barbara is co-founder of Global Health Corps.
7. Ann Landers and Abigail Van Buren
Esther Pauline Friedman and Pauline Esther Friedman may be names you’ve never heard of. However, they grew up to become two of the most famous columnist advice givers ever under the pseudonyms of Ann Landers and Abigail Van Buren, respectively. Ann had the “Ask Ann Landers” column, while Abby had her “Dear Abby” column.
6. Sprouse twins
Big Daddy launched the career of Cole and Dylan Sprouse. Together, they played Adam Sandler’s adopted kid. The twins played the one character because Hollywood rules only allow young children to work a certain amount of hours per day. Many times, Hollywood works around this rule by using twins to play one part. Since Big Daddy, the two played actual twins on the Disney show, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Both are still working in Hollywood today. Most notably, Cole is one of the stars of the show Riverdale.
5. Ronde and Tiki Barber
These twin brothers were both drafted into the NFL. Ronde played cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while Tiki played running back for the New York Giants. Both are now sports correspondents.
4. Winklevoss twins
Social Network showed the world the Winklevoss twins, who sued Mark Zuckerberg for cutting them out of the company Facebook. Based on real events, the twins sued Zuckerberg and won 65 million dollars for Zuckerberg taking their ConnectU idea and turning it into Facebook. Today, they’ve made a billion dollars off of Bitcoin!
3. Bee Gees
The Bee Gees were a famous band back in the 70’s and 80’s and were made up of all brothers. Two of the brothers, Robin and Maurice were twins. Older brother, Barry, was the lead singer. Their endless string of hits include “Stayin’ Alive”, “You Should Be Dancing”, “More Than a Woman”, and “Tragedy”. Don’t get them confused with “Shadow Dancing” though. That’s yet another brother, Andy, that was too young to join his big brothers’ band.
2. Elvis
There are a number of famous celebrities you didn’t know had a twin, such as Ashton Kutcher and Scarlett Johanson. However, the King of Rock and Roll, himself, I think, takes that win on that as he is also a twin. Elvis Aaron Presley was born in 1935 along with his twin, Jesse Garon Pressley, who was born 35 minutes later. Sadly, Jesse was stillborn.
1. Olsen twins
Michelle from Full House was played by twin children for the same reasons as stated above for the Sprouse twins. Full House’s twins were Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. After Full House, their stardom couldn’t be denied. The duo starred in a string of kid-friendly movies throughout the 90’s and early 2000’s. Later, they became billionaire fashion designers. They are also sisters of Elizabeth Olsen, whose most famous role so far, the Avenger’s Scarlett Witch, is a twin herself!
So, a note to any twin reading this. It doesn’t matter if you’re a singer, an actor, a writer, or a football star, you can be anything you want to be as long as you try hard. The toughest gig above would be becoming a president’s daughter, so good luck with whatever you choose!
