Dogman: A Book Review

Dogman Book

I know you're wondering, "What is a Dogman"? Well, there was a big explosion and the city’s best cop and their best K9 officer were caught in it. The cop suffered a really bad head injury and the dog a body injury. So, you guessed it, the surgeons combined them! They didn’t know what to do, initially, until one doctor said to just put the dog’s head on the dude’s body. Naturally, this cop becomes the best man-dog hybrid possible in this comedy action. I bought this book the second I saw it because, of course, the cover had a man-dog hybrid on it! It’s also made by the same writer that did Captain Underpants, which I think is hilarious.

Dog man has a lot to deal with. His boss, Chief, is an angry jerk that hates whenever Dog Man comes into his office. The bad guy of the book is Petey the Cat. When he breaks out of cat jail, dogman is on the case. While tracking down Petey, he’s forced to battle a giant living taco, a robotic chief, and an army of living hot dogs. All of this happens in 220 pages of awesomeness.

Petey makes everyone in the city stupid by spraying them with stupid spray. Seriously. Dogman, who was already stupid, wasn't affected by the spray. However, he then studies, becomes real smart, and sets to put a stop to Petey.

Meanwhile, Petey sprays the city with "living spray" which brings anything it touches to life. So, weenies, giant tacos, and even buildings come to life and attack Dogman. How does Dogman defeat them? He eats all the living hot dogs. Then, he blew up the can of living spray and the giant taco. Since the living spray was gone, the living building went back to normal. The explosion sent Petey flying right back into jail. So, Dogman saved the day!

I loved this book. The whole story is ridiculous and all out crazy, which made it all the more fun to read. It is such “dude humor” that I just couldn’t stop laughing. So, while it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes goofy, dude humor.
