Football & The Superbowl Crafts
Football time means games, games, and more games. Of course, every once in a while, you could find yourself without a game to watch. How do you keep the football momentum going? Doesn't crafts sound like the natural answer to that question? Well, it could be. Also, for your little ones that aren't yet totally into football like you are, this could be a way to connect them to your love of the game so that when they're a bit older, they're armchair quarterbacking right there alongside you.
Newspaper Pompom
Using a few pages of a newspaper, cut the paper in about 1 inch wide sections all the way across the paper. For length of the cut, you'll want to leave a couple of inches near the fold of the paper uncut. Roll the paper up. The uncut portion becomes your pompom holder.
Helmet Decoration
Draw a helmet (or print out a plain helmet from a printable off the Internet). Have your kids decorate the helmets with their favorite team colors or mascots.
Team Pennant
Cut a piece of foam out in the shape of a pennant flag and decorate with a message like "Go Team". Add a Popsicle stick as the flag pole and swing your foam flag as you cheer for your team!
Paper Football & Goal
Fold a paper football, just like you used to back in school. For effect, use brown construction paper and mark white laces on it. Then glue Popsicle sticks together in the shape of a goal, paint that yellow. It's a cool craft, but even better, it doubles as a fun game!
"Foam Hand" Craft
Have your kid trace their hand in the "you're number 1" position. Cut out the trace, have them decorate the hand, and glue a Popsicle stick to it as the handle. Then, you can use your new "foam hand" to root for your favorite team!
Now that you've meticulously finished your crafts, hurry up...the game's back on!
